This might be interesting!

I saw an ad in the paper a few weeks ago advertising for a second grade part time position with pay between 20,000 to 25,000. I had no idea where or what this school was. I figured I would email my resume and see what happens. Because at the moment the high end of their salary is 2,000 less of what I am making now.

Now fast forward to today where I get a phone call. I apparently sent my resume to the South Bend Hebrew Day School. So now I have an interview set up for tomorrow at 2. He asked if I would mind having my picture taken so they could attach it to my resume and something they don't do is shake hands because of religious reasons. He asked if I had a problem with any of those, and I told him I didn't mind.

He told me about the job description and that as a part time teacher I would be responsible for the reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies part of classroom day. There are the religious people that take care of the Hebrew part of the day.

I don't even know what to expect. I guess the only way I would take this job is that I am offered benefits also, which I am doubting. So we shall see what happens.

Waiting

In two weeks, school will be in session. I am still holding out to see if SBCSC calls. I have dropped off my resume and application again at Human Resources. I have emailed the person at Human Resources. I have heard nothing. It is just so aggravating.

I have open house at my school next Tuesday. I have begun putting my classroom back together because of the fact that I am just bored at home. I have decided to put my classroom back together in the late afternoon hours because I am least likely to run into anyone and spend my entire time talking. So it is just me and the radio. However what I found out yesterday is that my third grade desks are still in the room and I still need to get my second grade desks. Grrr....

My goal is to get the classroom put together this week, stroll into school next week on open house day and get lessons together, then on Monday August 11, I can just stroll on in. Hopefull I can stick to the plan. We shall see, however if SBCSC does call I then have a choice to make. Let's just hope I hear something by the end of the week.

Animal Rescue

Forwarded from one of my friends:

Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple... Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute (How about 20 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Wow that went by fast!

I swear the weekends go by faster than the weekdays. Then again doesn't always seem to be that way?

On Friday night we had our 10 year high school reunion. I cannot believe that it has been 10 years since I have graduated from LaSalle! The reunion was nice. Although for the $90 we had to pay, I expected a bit more than eat your dinner and have a nice time. The only decorations were the red and black napkins in the water glasses on the table. Jay even expected more.

Kara and I have been friends since Kindergarten!

Tracie, me, Jennifer, and Kristen
Tracie didn't get the memo that it wasn't a crazy pic!

The sad thing about the reunion is that the person who organized it all was stuck in New York because of a huge storm that rolled through and they cancelled the poor guy's flight!

On Saturday I worked and got final things together for my cousin's bridal shower that we had today.

The shower was held at the Inn at St. Mary's. The entrance to the hotel is quite nice, as I have never been in the place before. I now realize that I should have gotten pictures of the entrance. Oh well!

When we arrived nothing was set up except the tables with the table clothes. We were then told that we had to bring everything ourselves, and then my mom proceeded to tell the person that she was told that everything was included. Somehow everything got straightened out. It was just weird that St. Mary's was not providing the food but the Hilton Hotel next door was. I'm not even sure how that works. There was miscommunication somewhere along the line. However everything was nice and worked out great!

The yummy cake from the Country Bake Shop!

The pretty tables!

My mom with my two great aunts and my grandmother.

Laura and her ability to make the most gorgeous ribbon bouquet.

Maria and all of her cousins who were present!

My aunt told me that I need to go into event planning because I did such a great job. I just said that teaching is less stressful! :)

Also Maria also has the most gorgeous engagement pictures. She had them taken on the campus of Saint Mary's and at Lake Michigan at sunset. Check it out: http://grantisaacstudio.blogspot.com/

Now I just need to gear up for the last week of summer school, then a week off (which really isn't a week off because I am putting my classroom back together), and then school starts on August 11. Blah!

Meet Bob...

and no it is not one of those commercials! I had hubby take out the trash when he got home tonight at 11. The first thing is yells, "What the heck is that?!?" I ran to the back door half expecting to see a slug because we have a colony of slugs living around the house and they tend to get into the basement in some unknown way. But nope this is what we saw:

So I told hubby that his name is Bob. He just kinda looked at me funny. We really have no idea what kind of bug this is. Plus I was not getting too close to Bob. The picture is courtesy of my camera's 12x zoom!

But I do know that I have taken the can of Raid to one of his family members before. I was getting the can of Raid out, and hubby said, "Let him be. It looks docile." Excuse me...this is the same man who freaks out at a spider that is three quarters smaller than Bob's size!

So at the moment Bob is hanging out on the ledge leading down to the basement. In a few moments Bob is going to get a taste of Raid no matter what hubby says because that thing is NOT coming to visit me while I sleep!

Three Years

On this date three years ago, hubby and I said "I Do!" Yes we have our ups and downs, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

What the heck!

When in tarnation did it become the middle of July? This means that this time next month, school will have been in session for four days! That's right we start August 11. How sad is that? Where in the heck did my summer go!

Finally Finished!

Sunday we finished the deck: Dad, Jay, Tony, and I. I was thrilled when I found a patio table and chairs cleared out at Menards. It is nothing fancy, but it suits what we need. I really wanted the blue chairs but they were sold out, so green and orange will do. I also found some nifty solar lights that are post toppers. My dad was making fun of them, but my mom told me that he said that they are really neat. So guess what he is getting for his birthday, that is if I can find them in copper.

Now I just need to find some flowers and dress it up a bit. However flowers should be cheap because it is the middle of July!

After my dad left, Tony and Jay hung yet another ceiling fan. This time we added one to the bedroom. So the house is now outfitted with ceiling fans and they really do help a lot!

I just love that hubby is standing on the bed!

All we have left to do now is pour the cement pad leading out of the back door, hang the screen door for the back of the house, and then level off the back yard. However I have a feeling that we will level off the back yard as a project for next spring. Oh well, we have our deck!

All Finished

I have finally finished the bridal shower invites. I am very pleased with how they turned out. Now I just need to get the rest of the addresses, then I can send them off on their merry way!

Back Home Again

After 284 pictures, we have arrived back home from San Antonio. The flights were good coming and going. We only had turbulence going into San Antonio, only because the pilot was trying to divert around a thunderstorm.

The fourth of July was spent at SeaWorld where we were drenched not once but twice by the wonderful downpour. We never made it to see the penguins and find the free beer.

In front of the Budweiser cart.

This picture was after our first drenching.

In between SeaWorld and the Riverwalk, we played games in the arcade park next to our hotel. Josh and Tony won 3,000 tickets. Where he exchanged them in for these lovely braclets and other random items.

In the evening, we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe along the Riverwalk. Then we walked the Riverwalk and took the boatride along the walk.

Waiting for dinner along the Riverwalk.

Hubby posing in front of a stage and the bells that represent the 5 missions of San Antonio.

On Saturday, we attended James and Jennette's wedding. It was beautiful. They were married at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in San Antonio and the reception was held at the Embassy Suites.

A very cool part of the wedding was that a mariachi band came in and played for an hour. Laura has now decided that she wants one for her wedding.

On Sunday morning, we checked out of our rooms and headed back downtown. We took in the Alamo and shopped in the little shops around the Alamo.

Then we headed off to find the Cheesecake Factory. I had a divine piece of Dutch Apple Caramel Streusel cheesecake. It was probably enough calories for two days! Then we dropped the rental car back off and boarded our plane. We were back home by midnight.

The funny thing is that hubby turns to me on the airplane to Detroit and says, "We have to fly again somewhere." This is the same person who grips the seat in terror as we take off and land because he is scared to death to fly. Huh?

All Packed

I have everything printed out. So after a few more errands and a few more items into the suitcase, we are officially packed. It seemed so much easier to pack this time around. Hubby said it was because we are going into 90+ degree weather and we don't need much clothing. :-)

Jenni, the cat, has also decided that she needs to be packed:

I hope everyone has a safe and happy fourth of July!

A shopping we will go...

Yesterday, July 1, was my 28th birthday. That now means that I am only 2 years away from 30. Yippee! We went out to eat at Papa Vino's on Sunday night because that was the only time all of us could get together. The food was very yummy and I still have leftovers in the fridge because the portions were so HUGE!

So yesterday I went for the lovely bike ride and then came home and cleaned a little and started making a list of things I need to get before we get on the plane tomorrow afternoon for San Antonio. It was a very relaxing day!

I then went over to my parent's house in the evening and found out that my mom got the flu on Monday and was still feeling horrible. So Tony, Rosanne, Laura, Josh, and I went out to go shopping and dress the guys for the wedding. Too bad hubby was working...I wouldn't let him take the day off because he is already taking Thursday and Monday off.

Our first stop was JC Penney for Tony because they have a big and tall section. Rosie and I did a great job of loading him up with clothes. When we were all checked out we went off to find Laura who was looking at evening purses and shoes. Josh also had to try out a purse:

We then went off to Kohl's to find Josh some clothes and Tony some shoes. Well Tony found more clothes, but no shoes because Kohl's does not carry a size 14 shoe. Josh also found some clothes. Then we went off to Shoe Carnival, where all of us except Rosie walked away with a pair of shoes. The guys even walked away with two pairs!

Hacienda was calling our name! The food was yummy, the waitress was horrible. We waited 10 minutes to be given any type of service including our chips! We asked for extra napkins twice, and then when she finally brought them to us, we got two. Gee there are five of us and two napkins. Arg! Then when it was time to get our check the waitress was nowhere around us because she was mopping the floor! So we had to get the waitress from the other table to get us our check. Needless to say the tip was not that great.

Rosie and Laura are in their everyday forms!

Tony looking so thrilled that we are spending his money! :)

Finally me...who really enjoyed the marjarita!

If Texas is going to be like anything like last night, it is going to be a hoot!

Bike Ride Anyone?

Laura and I went bike riding last Tuesday around the lake at Notre Dame and then proceeded around campus. It was very pretty. Today we took another bike ride although this time we went around Saint Mary's campus. I knew that there was a nature trail located somewhere on the outskirts of the campus. So we were in search of that. We found the entrance and then proceeded our way on the nature trail...

We found the trail to be quiet and relaxing.
Here Laura is posing by the lovely St. Joseph River!

This was the sign that told us that we were on the nature trail.
We looked in the box for the trail maps and all we found were bugs!

Then our trail became narrow, so we decided what the
heck let's just ride and see where it takes us!

It took us to an open field with this weird mushroom rock collection.

It also had a place with a fenced in area with a fire hydrant on the inside. We have no idea why they would gate a fire hydrant!

So we took off on the narrow nature trail again to figure out where in the heck it actually went. As we made our twists and turns, I made a lovely high pitched scream because there was some unknown bug on me. Laura ran into a few trees. I got a stick caught on my leg that then proceeded to stop my pedal. We had to walk our bikes down the trail otherwise you would hear about us getting pulled out of the river later this evening. Then we came to this:

This is when we decided that maybe this wasn't a bicycle trail because of the steps going up!

This part of the trail actually got us back on the main trail part and we rode out of the woods and around campus. We decided that we would not bike again on the lovely Saint Mary's nature trail!
